YOU ARE ALREADY PERFECT EXISTENCE
From birth, the body magnifies (otherwise called “grows”) what is already there – what it already IS. The foundation for its growth is inherent in the body.
The mind, however, magnifies not what is there but only what it perceives. The mind of each individual is a separate register of that one’s conditioning, which influences and exerts a sway over that one’s perception of self and the world. The mind tends to dwell on and amplify the egoic story of the self: the story of the singular self and how it wants life to be.
Spiritual Practice or Self-Realisation Practice is essentially the awakening and nurturing and gradual magnification of that which is already there - what already IS. And what already IS, is the State of Existence or the Truth State. How could it not be? If it were not, you would not be in existence. Existence itself is Reality, not our ideas and philosophies about it.
In the case of the body, the biology is already there. In the case of our True Self Nature - the Unconditioned Life-Being - It is also already there. You were born with It and always have It. In Truth, you are a reflection of It but perhaps, you do not Realise It.
However, we tend to become so fretfully concentrated on the mortal body-self identity that we completely neglect or remain ignorant of the Life-Being, which Is our True Self. We tend to lose the Wonder of Existence.
Without the intervention of Wisdom Adepts, we become arrested at the level of self-conscious thinking, feeling and perceiving our self-identity as a singular mortal body. We tend to concentrate on our seemingly singular self, resulting in bodily unease, rejection, incompleteness, competitiveness, self-protectiveness and self defense. Suffering the effects of this common self-confinement, we become addicted to the psychology and logic of consolation. In other words, we are attracted to anything and everything that makes us feel better.
From this point of view, one only has to observe one’s self to begin to see that no matter how much knowledge we gain about this or that, no matter how much “happy” we get from someone or something, no matter how much of anything we can own, as long as we remain in the perception of being a singular bodily stand-alone individual, there remains a lurking fretfulness, a self-doubt, an unease about Being – the mind of a singular self-consciousness.
Ah, the mind, the delusional ruler of the singular self, is always saying – “No, not now, not yet. Do not trust the Existence Place of Being, hell no! you need this and that, you must work towards the True State and, what’s more, you cannot do it without my limited perceptions and judgments that are more real than you.” And on and on it heartlessly babbles, “You need more experiences, you need more knowledge, you need a lover, you need…you need…”
However, you are presently and always the Love-Full Reflection of Existence. Nothing needs to be added, nor can anything be added to Existence to make it more. To become obsessed with trying to prove and magnify the singular self’s perception and its demands is the confession of our Loveless-ness: our loss of the Ecstatic Gift of Existence.
How we think about our life, how we perceive physical conditions, how we think and perceive whatever we think Reality is, how we think or perceive who we are - these faculties are conditioned by the society/culture we are birthed into and therefore reflect the psychic and spiritual range of possibilities within that particular society/culture.
After all, society/culture is an ideology grafted onto Existence, engraved into you, the already Life Given human body Being. I have no argument for one or other society or culture whatsoever; that is not the point. The point is that they all create a barrier, thus suspending further submission into the All Pervading One Life-Being to such a degree that the individual points to her/his body and declares, “I am this singular person, and I want to magnify this… and you (the other) are a threat.”
These worldly created institutions are not founded on the Unalterable Truth of Being, or the Wonder and Gratitude for Existence. They are in complete denial that the body/mind IS the Great Reflection of Reality and therefore, being so, does not need to be qualified (confined to a worldly identity such as a nationality or culture or religion) nor condemned or saved. These human-made structures are a superimposition on our Life-Consciousness - that Divine Life-Force which actually lives and organises every cell of the body of all beings.
When a society/culture is not grounded in the Wisdom of the already Truth Condition, the population inevitably becomes more and more bewildered and fearful, driven by the demands of every individual’s self-indulgent motives. Its followers become easily manipulated and exploited by those who either propose to save them or give them better times. Such a Life-divorced society/culture/religion literally forbids the Realisation of the inherent Ecstatic Life-Being as the foundation and discipline of our human existence and instead perpetuates the collective narcissistic assumption that this life is all about making one’s self feel good. You know, “getting it on.”
Just so, when a society/culture forbids the Inherent Life-Nature as the basis and law of our everyday life, it also disallows or excludes (especially within the conditioned consciousness of its followers) the Ecstatic Function of the Wisdom Adepts.
Without the intervention and instruction of Ecstatic Wisdom Adepts, we remain bound to the common or conventional social motive, wherein one identifies the self with whatever character, whatever body, whatever personality, whatever gender, whatever cultural-person one is or whatever work one does. And that is it. Always thinking or identifying as being just that and subsequently feeling one must improve on that and amplify that, enhance that, defend that, fortify that… Ah, the endless round of “Look, look, look at me! Appreciate me! I am here, do you love me?”
Life It Self is not magnified but rather, the human affair is promoted, pursued, indulged and always defended, whenever it is asked to get over itself.
In fact, in the consciousness of such societies Spiritual Practice is automatically assumed to be some kind of practice that, when engaged in, will make one feel good and/or a belief system or physical yoga method or way of thinking about love and god and freedom. Something added to the singular self-identity.
The deep sense of loss - something lost at the very core of the individual - that such a society relentlessly saturates the mind with, generates in the individual a desperation and presumption that Spiritual Practice or Self-Realisation Practice is something one tries to do to oneself, something one tries to adapt to, in order that sometime soon everything will come right… that love and relationship and happiness will eventually take a turn for the better somewhere up ahead. They approach a Spiritual Adept as though She or He is trying to sort them out as a singular person. In which case there is always an underlying conflict.
This is the Loveless approach. In other words, one is not concentrated, devoted and committed to the magnification of the Inherent Life-Being, the State of Love-Being but rather, committed to the singular self idea and its self-gratifying logic of consolation: the search for love and relationship and all manner of objects that will make one happy.
It took me many years to realise Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi was only ever magnifying the Truth Condition. And being so He was rejected by most on the basis that He did not support their search - their personal reinforcement of a singular spiritual-self and its desire for self-fulfillment.
The Spiritual or Life Wisdom Adept is always, and ever increasingly, magnifying the Inherent Life-Being Self.
I know very well many people have not liked my criticism of our lovelessness and have become indignantly annoyed. However, I am not speaking about whether you “love” someone or not, or whether you “love” what you perceive to be me or the Ashram or the Sadhana (Spiritual Practice). To Love is to Be Love and to Be Love is to magnify the State of Love - the Inherent Life-Being that Lives the body/mind.
The Sadhana is most fundamentally the shedding of the singular body/mind perception, thus leaving only the magnification of Love or Free Being – the matrix of Existence.
The Sadhana is not something you try to believe in order for you to be Love. The Sadhana is not a process of “sorting you out” so that, at some stage, you are “all sorted.” The Sadhana is not a remedy, it is not an antidote for any problem whatsoever. The Ashram-Hermitage Sangha is not a circumstance in which to find either solace for the singular self or to look for approval for the singular self. The Sadhana is most fundamentally the Practice of Love-submission (of the singular self) in order to Be (or Live) the Love that is the Ecstatic Life-Being. It is the gradual magnification of Love or Life-Being and is therefore a Love-Full Practice from the beginning. And it is always expanding. It is the Awakening and Magnification of the Inherent Life -Being – Love.
Yes, the starry starry sky and the billions of cells in your body that are organised by the Life-Being, which make it possible for “you” (whoever that is) to read this, to talk, to walk, to see, to think, to laugh and cry, to feel pleasure and pain.
That you Exist at all should blow the delusional singular self mind out of its self-indulgent echo chamber. Then humanity would join with all creatures, all nature, that already and always magnify Life: the foundation of an enlightened human community.
